Tackling Homelessness

Homelessness is a serious issue in Halifax. My common-sense plan is to use vacant city-owned buildings as temporary shelters, free for those in need until they can get back on their feet. These buildings can be easily renovated into rooms, and we will connect people to the services they need to find permanent housing

Fixing Traffic Congestion

Traffic congestion is a growing problem. I’ll work with city planners and residents to develop overpasses at the Armdale Rotary and the Joseph Howe-Windsor exchange, helping to reduce traffic. I’ll also revisit the commuter rail idea as a long-term solution.

Addressing [Youth] Crime

Youth crime is a well-known issue in our city. As mayor, I’ll work with communities, youth advocates, and city officials—including police—to build relationships and get youth into programs that promote education and employment opportunities.

Improving Fire Services

As our municipality expands, rural areas need better fire services. We need more than volunteers to meet the demands of housing developments near heavily wooded areas. I’ll make sure we have the proper emergency services to build safe communities.

We acknowledge that we live and work on the unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq in Mi’kma’ki, governed by the 1725 "Treaties of Peace and Friendship." These treaties affirmed Indigenous land rights and established ongoing relations. We are all part of these treaty obligations.
